Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) is a thermoplastic material, a lightweight porous plastic made by physical foaming process, which is widely used in packaging, construction, daily necessities and other fields.

Appearance: When not foamed, it is a fine bead-like particle, and after foaming, it becomes a white honeycomb-like porous structure, with a light texture and good buffering.

production process

The production of EPS is divided into three stages:

1. Pre-foaming

The raw material particles are heated in steam or hot water (80-100°C), and the internal foaming agent vaporizes and expands, and the particle volume increases to 20-50 times the original volume.

2. Maturation

The pre-foaming particles are allowed to stand in the air for 24-48 hours to replace the foaming agent with the air to stabilize the internal pressure.

3. Forming

The mature particles are filled into the mold and heated again with steam. The particles are softened and fused into a fixed-shaped foam block or product.
